Install hangs at second reboot...

Hello, now, this is something I experienced the first time I installed the Release Preview, but it also happened when I got a hold of an RTM leak of 8. The setup would run just fine until the point it sets up devices and drivers at the boot screen. When the message "Restarting your PC" is supposed to appear and actually reboot, the installer hangs without any errors or messages, and I never...

HI, I can't force setup to install Windows 8 on my prepared partition. It's 2nd primary nonactive partition on internal HD formatted as NTFS with default cluster, 26GB big. Everything looks meeting system requirements tho setup refuses to continue. I get up to the setup type dialog, choose CUSTOM (as I don't want to upgrade from Seven but rather to install as secondary OS), on custom partition...

Windows 8 To Go...

For everyone that is curious, I have successfully got the leaked RTM build of Windows 8 on a To Go drive. Normally, this wouldn't be significant, but I used the leaked Pro build and not the Enterprise build, which has been decreed as the version that will do that. Odd, I guess Microsoft might be considering the Pro version as just a retail version of Enterprise. There's a strange thing it's doing...

Hi there! I've encountered a remarkable problem with trying to upgrade my current installation of Windows 7 x64. I'm running bootcamp from a Macbook Pro which has no DVD drive, so I'm using a bootable USB created from an ISO using Microsoft's very own software to do so. I'm running the Windows 8 setup.exe whilst in Windows 7, and the setup assistant tells me I need to "manually remove" the...

Hello genuis's (or genii?) I have an Acer Aspire 5733, on which has a 640GB HDD. On that I have Windows 7 home premium. I've just Installed Windows 8 Release Preview on a VHD on the internal HDD, and to do that, (on windows 7) went into Disk Management and created 50GB VHD, which I attached. I then made a Windows 8 DVD, which I put into the drive and booted from. I got up to the HDD selection,...

I just downloaded the Technet version of Win8 Pro. When trying to *UPGRADE* the RP version, I keep getting a message to "remove install media, boot windows normally, and then add the install media afterwards". Of course, nothing happens when I reboot, heh. It *LOOKS* like I will have to do a clean install on my SSD which I just cloned so no big deal. BUT, if someone manages to upgrade, please...

Hello all! I have found a few people with this problem (including myself) . If you have dual booted Windows 7 and Windows 8 (even by using a VHD to boot from) and are getting the 0xc000428 error when booting Windows 7, I have the solution. 1. Insert a Windows 7 Setup disc and boot from it. 2. Choose your language. 3. Click on "Repair you computer" at the bottom 4. Select "Windows 7" for the...

I'm doing an upgrade from W7 to W8. I click through, everything is fine (only had to uninstall Kaspersky and a quick reboot), and the system counts up to 100% done, then reboots. After reboot, I get the little blue spinning circle, then the monitor shuts off. Anyone else seen this?

Ok so I am trying to install Win 8 (x64) which I downloaded from TechNet as an upgrade on my Win 7 (64) laptop with 8GB of memory. I have run the burned ISO from within Win 7, but it then gives me this error code: You need to install at least 2GB of RAM before you can install and run Windows 8. Contact the PC manufacturer to see if you can install more RAM. The problem is I have 8GB of...

Just a heads-up to anyone fooling around with the new Windows 8 and may want to dual boot with an existing Windows 7 and don't want the related boot issues when it may be time to remove the W_8, it'll be just as simple as a right-click delete to totally remove it in Windows disk management. *_How to Create Extended Partition / Logical Drives Where Needed _ *...

Everything went fine until I got to the screen to name the PC. Would not take any input from keyboard. Just made a backup of Winxp media on the machine before without any trouble, now nothing. After 15 minutes, checked the batteries just for the heck of it, they were almost dead. New ones allowed me to continue:p. Next problem was not getting an email from MS verifying my email, that took...
