automatic repair - diagnose problem loop

Hi Had to replace my Asus laptop battery and the had a problem with windows 8.1 upgrade not starting goes to automatic repair then diagnose then unable to repair then start again. Put in windows 8 upgrade DVD but won't boot it , goes on automatic repair roundabout .
