My CMOS battery was dying and the system had been losing time completely but was otherwise running as normal, but then my system drive (Old Samsung Spinpoint1) died on me anyway and I decided to replace them both at the same time as i don't like to mess around inside my computer much being a novice.
I had the system drive connected to a 60gb solid state drive (as cache) with Intel Rapid Storage...
