Windows 8 to 7 on new desktop

I just got a Dell XPS 8500 for work, and was previously doing game development on an Asus machine that died, so we had to buy a new one. This dell has come with windows 8 pre installed, and I am just getting the sense that I wont be able to go back to seven, even if I have the recovery disks?
